EASST Biennial Conference 2026
📍 Krakow, Poland
📅 8–11 September 2026
The European Association for the Study of Science and Technology (EASST) invites scholars, researchers, and practitioners in Science and Technology Studies (STS) to its 2026 Biennial Conference in Krakow.
Established in 1981, EASST brings together an interdisciplinary community spanning social sciences, humanities, engineering, and natural sciences — united by a shared interest in how science and technology shape society, and how societies shape science and technology.
Recent supported initiatives include:
Global Data and the (Geo)Politics of Health Data Ecosystems
STS’ing the Balkans / Balkanizing STS
Ecofeminist Art-Science Residency (EFAS)
The Fund reflects EASST’s commitment to experimentation and community-building beyond traditional conference formats.
EASST Awards 2026
Since 2012, EASST has celebrated collaboration and intellectual contribution through its awards, presented at the Biennial Conference.
Awards include:
Ziman Award (collaborative and engaged STS work)
Freeman Award
Amsterdamska Award
Nominations for 2026 are open (Ziman deadline extended to 28 February 2026).
Why Attend?
EASST2026 offers:
A large, interdisciplinary STS gathering
Open panels on emerging issues (AI, quantum futures, synthetic data, crisis preparedness, green transitions, and more)
Mentorship initiatives and PhD engagement
A vibrant international research community
The atmosphere combines intellectual rigor with creative experimentation — from traditional paper panels to art-science collaborations and critical design interventions.
For those working at the intersection of technology, governance, sustainability, imagination, or futures thinking, EASST remains one of Europe’s key spaces for critical reflection on sociotechnical change.
