  • At the Council of Europe we had the great opportunity to listen to Mathias’ perspective about future development of democracy(ies). It was an important contribution to our work as resilience and strategic foresight is crucial for Council of Europe’s contribution to democratic governance. • Mathias (ANTICIPATE) brought invaluable insights on the role of foresight in driving technological innovation. His perspective helped both artists and tech innovators understand how anticipating future trends can inspire more visionary, responsible, and resilient solutions. His webinar enriched the MUSAE community’s exploration of how futures thinking can drive meaningful innovation at the intersection of art, design, and technology.

Futures Thinking for Creatives: Expanding Possibilities Through Art and Design (Masterclass)

  • The future is plural! This was the idea that stayed with me after attending ANTICIPATE’s foresight training in Copenhagen. Mathias Behn Bjørnhof, a true professional in the field, emphasized that foresight isn’t about predicting the future—it’s about strategic thinking, exploring possible scenarios, and uncovering new perspectives and opportunities. What I loved most was how practical it felt. Foresight isn’t about grand visions that are interesting to hear but impossible to act on. It’s about mapping the future—looking at megatrends, signals, challenges, and potential paths forward. It’s a key part of strategic planning, both for organizations and for states that want to intelligently plan and shape their vision for the future. Now that I’ve got this foundation, my next step is to explore how to apply foresight in sustainability communication.
