World Futures Studies Federation – World Conference 2025

Theme: Thriving Together – Imagining Shared Futures

Dates: 29–31 October 2025

Location: Bellville, Cape Town, South Africa

The 26th World Futures Studies Federation (WFSF) World Conference will gather global voices to address the convergence of economic, ecological, technological, political, and social challenges shaping the future. Under the theme Thriving Together, the event will focus on moving beyond resilience to envision sustainable and inclusive futures.

Key discussion areas include:

  • Adaptive capacities in times of disruption

  • Democratic renewal and social cohesion

  • Ecological sustainability and climate resilience

  • Technological responsibility and innovation

  • Shared narratives for hopeful and inclusive futures

Hosted by the Institute for Futures Research and Stellenbosch Business School, the in-person event aims to convene 150 participants from diverse regions and sectors. The programme will combine research presentations, dialogue, and collaborative exploration.

The WFSF is a UNESCO and UN consultative partner with members in over 60 countries, providing a global forum for long-term, big-picture thinking on alternative futures.
