Reimaginando Futuros: Oportunidades de la Transición Ecológica (ANTICIPATE Webinar)

Reimagining Futures: Opportunities for the Ecological Transition

📅 October 23, 2025 | 12:30–14:30 (Ecuador) / 19:30–21:30 (CET)

🌐 Online | Bilingual (Spanish/English) | Free participation

We’re partnering with T’inki – Centro de Pensamiento del Futuro (Ecuador) for an international webinar exploring the future of ecological transition in Latin America.

This bilingual online session will bring together global and local perspectives to explore how futures thinking, scenario planning, and speculative design can help navigate one of the region’s defining challenges: balancing short-term economic pressures with long-term sustainability, indigenous rights, and planetary well-being.

Co-hosted by Karina Barrera and Jean Paul Pinto from T’inki and Ana Ines Osorio and Mathias Behn Bjørnhof from ANTICIPATE, the event will connect foresight methodologies with the lived realities of Latin American communities and ecosystems.

From policy and governance to systems change and innovation, we’ll explore how futures approaches can inspire new pathways for sustainability, inclusion, and resilience.

What to Expect

A two-hour bilingual session designed to make futures thinking tangible, featuring:

  • A look at Ecuador’s ecological transition and its key policy challenges.

  • An exploration of global megatrends shaping sustainability, democracy, and innovation.

  • A creative segment using science fiction and speculative design to imagine alternative pathways.

Who It’s For

Policymakers, environmental leaders, entrepreneurs, researchers, and civil society actors working toward sustainable and equitable futures across Latin America.

Why It Matters

Latin America stands at a crossroads. While ecological transition is gaining political and social attention, long-term foresight capacity remains limited. This collaboration aims to:

  • Introduce futures literacy and scenario-based approaches to sustainability debates.

  • Build capacity for systemic and long-term thinking across institutions.

  • Lay the groundwork for deeper training and engagement in 2026.

Speakers

  • Karina Barrera, T’inki (Ecuador) – Former Undersecretary for Climate Change; expert in sustainability and circular economy.

  • Jean Paul Pinto, T’inki (Ecuador) – Foresight researcher and author; expert in speculative design and innovation.

  • Mathias Behn Bjørnhof, ANTICIPATE (Denmark) – Global foresight strategist and founder of ANTICIPATE.
