Futures Week 2026
📍 Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia
📅 3–6 November 2026
Futures Week 2026 is a collaborative event bringing together young people, futurists, researchers, businesses, public institutions and civil society to imagine and develop responses to the challenges facing future cities.
Now in its ninth year, Futures Week combines futures thinking with participatory innovation, connecting long-term perspectives to concrete proposals and experiments.
The 2026 edition takes place under the theme “Towards Sustainable Cities 2030” (Rumbo a Ciudades Sostenibles 2030), exploring how cities can become healthier, more educational, creative, sustainable and technologically capable.
Programme Themes
The event brings together several complementary approaches:
Strategic foresight and futures thinking: Exploring possible futures for cities and communities.
Sustainable urban development: Addressing challenges related to health, education, technology and environmental sustainability.
Youth participation: Involving younger generations directly in imagining, designing and proposing urban transformations.
Digital fabrication and innovation: Using practical experimentation and prototyping to develop solutions.
Collaborative action: Connecting academia, government, businesses and communities around shared priorities.
The programme includes workshops, laboratories, panel discussions, co-creation processes and innovation experiences.
Speakers include Guillermo Gándara, Executive Director of the Ibero-American Foresight Network (RIBER); Ana Sancho of Bilbao Metropoli-30; and Benito Juárez, co-founder of Fab Lab Perú and the Latin American Fab Lab Network.
The event is organised through the Unifranz ecosystem and partners, including The Millennium Project and RIBER, with a particular emphasis on connecting futures literacy and participatory approaches to tangible local change.
