The African Futures Conference is the continent’s leading platform for exploring and amplifying African-led foresight. The 2025 edition brings together policymakers, analysts, researchers, young changemakers, and foresight practitioners for two days of bold thinking, rigorous analysis, and practical collaboration.

Theme: Insight, Imagination, Action — sustainable African futures grounded in evidence, fueled by creativity, and translated into meaningful impact.

Highlights:

• Launch of the Africa 2043 Futures Report

• Curated sessions on Africa’s futures

• Hands-on rotating Futures Lab

• Young Changemakers Competition (top 3 winners invited to Pretoria)

• Development of the African Futures Network (AFN)

Call for Contributions (Deadline: 26 August 2025):

Submit proposals for talks, sessions, or showcases under one or more pillars:

1. Insight – Data, modelling, and forecasting for African development

2. Imagination – Creative storytelling and participatory foresight

3. Action – Embedding foresight in policy, governance, and practice

Target audience: Policymakers, researchers, foresight practitioners, civil society leaders, young changemakers.
